Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) provide cost-effective engineering solutions for railway signalling projects throughout the UK.
As a team we manage the full project life cycle and complete all aspects of design, project engineering, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance support, across all signalling technologies, equipment and systems.
We also provide design, supply, install and test services for operational and lineside telecommunication renewals, either as a single discipline provider, or as part of multidisciplinary project, to ensure end-to-end connectivity. We also offer these capabilities for station information and security systems.
We are currently working on a number of contracts some examples of which include the S&T Framework for NW&C, SP&C Framework in Scotland, TransPennine Route upgrade (TRue) and Train Control System Framework (TCSF) for provision of ETCS.
We have a great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our existing team to support and assist in the commercial management of contracts from feasibility through to completion. With key experience in pre-contract negotiations,
Key duties will include:
- Monitor, review, analyse and report on all contract costs for allocated projects
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of contract performance on a contract by contract basis.
- Management of subcontractors.
- Prepare client applications for payment and associated reporting.
- Carry out pricing of variation orders/change requests.
- Prepare interim and final accounts.
- Compare actual costs against planned programme, report and investigate variances.
- Assist with tender preparation and negotiation
With key experience in pre-contract negotiations, you will be self motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, with a minimum level of supervision. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are required for this role.
About you
The successful candidate will have gained significant experience in the role of QS within a contracting environment and hold a tertiary qualification in quantity surveying or construction. Whilst not essential, experience of working within the rail industry would be a distinct advantage. You will also be ambitious with a desire to develop yourself and the quantity surveying function.
If your past experience doesn’t match perfectly with every requirement of the job description, we still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for us.
